Looking for kit
Hello out there,
I am new to this site and found it researching Tolman Skiffs. I am thinking about building a 22 ft jumbo, center console, self bailing floor from a kit (probably not smart enough to try it from plans).
Big problem is finding a kit some place other than Alaska, anybody have a source or suggestion?
Thanks for any help,

I havent heard of anyplace making kits outside of Alaska. I'm sure there is someone in your area who would be willing to cut everything out for a price, but for just a single kit it would probably cost more than getting a kit shipped from Alaska.
Hi John,
If you're willing to pickup your kit in Seattle, it does not cost too much to have it shipped down. If I recall from a discussion on the Yahoo Tolman group site, it was less than $300.
I found that cutting out the parts was not hard and I really enjoyed laying out the points and lofting the curves. It does not take that much time and going from plans and measurements to cut pieces is half the fun in my mind.
Either way you'll find lots of support from the Tolman folks on the Internet. That's one of the reasons I decided to build a Tolman. I've really enjoyed the two times we had to get together and expect to do this more often in the future. There are about 6 Jumbos in the Portland area alone. Follow the Yahoo Group for info on our San Juan plans for next summer.
