Nelson Tolman Skiff - Pilot house II

I'm working on my pilot house. I started with this diagram based on a C-Dory 22. My pilot house is longer though and I wanted to have a forward facing seat as well as a dinette. The C-Dory has a sliding seat and I was going to do that but when I got in there with my tape and started looking at how long 6'2" is, I realized I had plenty of room to get a nice sized dinette without having to have the seat slide. All I needed was a backrest that could change from one side of the seat to the other. I'll figure out how to do that next weekend.

Here's a diagram of what I'm doing. I've made all the seats with at least one length less than 21" so they can fit through the cabin door. Even the galley fits as it is less than 21" tall but 34" long and 26.5" inches deep. The dinette table drops down and there is a filler for the space in front of the forward seat to make a nice, long 6'2" bunk on the port side of the boat. The starboard side has enough room for the skipper's seat and 34" left over for the galley. I'm still figuring out where the storage areas, sink and alcohol stove will go there. That's the one part I still have to make. All the modules will be covered in off-white Formica and trimmed with wood.

My boat has 2, long, 6ft gas tanks, mounted on each side of the hull. This gives me a total of 90 gallons of fuel and it puts my weight for fuel right in the middle of the boat. I was a little worried about having too much weight aft with the 50lb. jackplate that moves the motor 10" back. Having the fuel in the middle and putting my two batteries under the step into the pilot house seems to have done the trick. The boat rides just fine and is not stern heavy at all. It just runs right up on a plane with no bow up attitude at all. Each of the seating and galley modules attach to the top of the fuel tank compartments and the side of the hull and bulkheads. I think it will all make more sense when I have some photos of the finished interior. Soon...
