Tolman Skiff - Dodson Jumbo: 2/15 and 2/16 build
On Wednesday I spent some time cutting and fitting the cuddy, or middle, bulkhead. I made it out of a single sheet of 1/2" oukume plywood. I used the template and cut it flush with the stringers, or at least I tried to. It ended up about a 1/2" above stringer height after it was fitting nice. I haven't cut out the filler pieces between stringers and hull so I will just cut them 1/2:" above the stringers and call it a feature and not a bug. Software developers will know what I mean, right Steve? After it was fitting I still had time to make my Texas Hold-em tourney at a local watering hole and played cards 'til midnight. Placed 7th, one out of the money. Story of my life.

On Thursday I spent about 4 hours cutting and fitting the rear bulkhead. This is made out of 2 sheets of 1/2" Oukume and has a vertical joint in the middle. I left an extra large lip on the bottom and will cut it to size after it is permanently installed. It sits 1 1/2 inch above stringer and I will have filler between stringers and stringer to hull. Why an 1 1/2 above stringers you ask? The only answer I have is it just fit that way. Give me some time and I can come up with a better answer. wait I know, it will make fitting it to the filler easier. I will be using biscuits instead of splines. Having room to maninpulate it without the stringers in the way will make the job easier. Photo's soon. I am attaching one file image until the photo's are available.

I then needed to clean the shop a bit as the sawdust was making the floor slick. It is also the entryway into our house so I try and clean up at least once a week.
