Corsair 13-- Assembling the Frame for Bottom Panel Installation
I have assemble the frame (temporarily) so that I can get the boat upside down in order to install the bottom panel(s). (See photos 052-062).
With a little help from a neighbor, we turned the frame bottom up. Tonight (Monday) I attempted to place the bottom panels onto the frame. I am quite concerned about the way the point of the bow is not matching well at all to the sides of the the boat. I will take photos and post those tomorrow. There is an extreme amount of tension on the front end of he bottom panel--I originally tried to stitch the 2 bottom panels together first but that was not working. I think I'm going to try and bend the front of the bottom panel gradually down and over frame "A" (the most forward frame inside the side walls).
Any suggestions at this point would be appreciated. This set of boat plans did not come with a step by step instruction guide so I am going to contact bateau tomorrow and see if I'm missing those or if I am supposed to rely solely on the how-to tutorials.

Steve you're the second Corsair 13 builder on WBB and the first one had the same problem you describe. See this post: http://woodenboatblog.com/node/201
I'm guessing that the panels don't go together perfectly. Post some photos and we'll give you all the free advice you can handle. I wonder if you can add/subtract from the panels to make them fit. The other question is would they fit without the frames in the boat? Sometimes the frame size/position is what is wrong and this causes the panels to take a wrong bend. I built a dory that had the right loftings for the panels but the designer had (mistakenly) included frame drawings for a completely different boat. We ended up trusting the panel shapes, stitching them together and making our own frames. Never heard back from that designer...
Just remember the motto: Epoxy conquers all. As the photo below of the other Corsair shows:
Tonight I stitched the bottom panels onto the frame. I still don't have the fit that I need up towards the front but it is looking better. I found that I can place a board between the 2 bottom panels and that will prevent the panels from over-lapping while downward pressur is applied. I also discovered that I will probably need to make some minor adjustments on a couple of the frames. Two of the frames are resting on but blocks so it appears I can trim about 1/4 inch of 2 of the frames and that should give me a little more room for flexibility. Iwill attempt to post the photos of the stitched bottom panels tomorrow.

Thanks for the info. I recall reading about "broken nose" in another blog somewhere. So far I don't have any breaks but if my gradual bending of the bottom panels doesn't work, I will have to make some modifications somewhere.
By the way----do youhave to open a new blog in order to post photos? For some reason I can't get my new photos posted in a reply message. It appears the only way is to start a new blog.
