Bottom Plank
Today I hauled the boat out of the water to address an issue I discovered recently. Beneath the deck inside the cabin (out of my view) trouble was brewing.

The plank is not pretty, but it is sound when I bang on it with a hammer and poke it with my pocket knife. At this point I have decided to dry the wood, coat it with epoxy, and keep a close eye on it. Replacemet will come later if need be.

Here"s the plank coated in West System Epoxy (GOOD STUFF!)

Epoxy on the inside.
I will monitor this repair. If need be, I will knock out this plank and replace it. I vow to keep a closer eye on the wood that is below the waterline and not allow any part of the "Big MAC" to deteriorate to this stage. The good thing about this repair is, I will be allowed to put West System Epoxy to the test. I already like the stuff, but this will prove to me just how good their product is.
I'll keep you posted!
